COTTER MEDSPA is located within the office of SHELBY PLASTIC SURGERY, two blocks north of Shelby Baptist Medical Center on Highway 31 in the comfort and privacy of Alabaster, Alabama.

We provide a variety of skin and laser treatments. In addition, we offer result-oriented spa treatments, significant non-surgical treatments, as well as carefully selected skin care products. Consultations with our board certified, licensed Physician Assistant, Kim Moon, PA-C, and our certified, licensed Medical Assistant, Crystal Lovelace are available to enhance your spa-time experience.

Dr. Cotter was born in Galveston, Texas in 1956. With his father serving as a general surgeon in the Public Health Service, he moved with his family to New Orleans, then Memphis and finally to Huntsville, Alabama. Growing up in Huntsville, Dr. Cotter graduated from Huntsville High School. He completed degrees in Physical Anthropology and Chemistry from the University of Alabama where he was named as a Distinguished Undergraduate Scholar. After Medical School at UAB he trained in general surgery at Carraway Methodist Medical Center and completed his Plastic Surgery training at the University of Louisville. He was certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Inc. in 1989. His practice began in Pensacola, Florida. In 1990, he returned to private practice in the Birmingham area and is currently affiliated with Shelby Baptist Medical Center, where he serves as Chief of Surgery.
